About Soror Nicole Jones
Soror Nicole Jones is a proud Jamaican-American, born in New York and raised in Maryland. A graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, she later earned her Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
Nicole’s journey in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. began in 2003 with her initiation into the Valley Forge Alumnae Chapter. Since joining the Orange County (CA) Alumnae Chapter in 2014, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, currently serving as the First Vice President and the Chair for Program Planning and Development. Nicole as a member of the Farwest Regional Information Communications Technology Committee. Her extensive contributions include roles such as Second Vice President, Membership Services and Reclamation Chair, Technology Chair, and Recording Secretary, and she was honored as Soror of the Year in 2020–2021. She is also a proud graduate of the Farwest Regional Delta PEARL (Preparing Emerging Aspiring Regional Leaders) Program.
In addition to her Delta involvement, Nicole is active in multiple community-focused organizations:
Jack and Jill of America, Inc.: An Associate of the Orange County Chapter, where she has served as Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary, and Area Cluster Co-Chair.
National Coalition of 100 Black Women: Co-Chair of the Membership Committee and mentor in the Next Generation Women Leaders program. Her past contributions include roles on the Annual Gala and Scholarship committees.
The Links, Incorporated: Chapter Technology Chair and Friendship Ambassador, with involvement in the National Trends and Services Facet, the Debutante Leadership Program Committee, and International Trends and Services Facet.
Nicole’s passions extend beyond her organizational roles. She is a dedicated member of Saddleback Church, where she volunteers with the Counseling, Hope for Mental Health, and Celebrate Recovery ministries. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and living an active, purpose-driven life of community service.
Nicole Jones exemplifies leadership, service, and a commitment to making a positive impact in every area of her life.
Each year the Orange County (CA) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. recognizes an outstanding soror to receive its most prestigious award, “Soror of the Year.” The Soror of the Year is a soror recognized for contributing effort, time, and energy to chapter projects, displaying leadership through committee work and/or an officer position, attending meetings regularly, and embodying enthusiasm and possessing the true Delta spirit in recognition that membership in Delta Sigma Theta is a lifetime commitment. Nominations are made at the May Chapter meeting each year.
The criteria for Soror of the Year are as follows:
♦ Contributes hours, time, and energy to chapter projects
♦ Displays leadership through committee work and/or officer position
♦ Attends meetings regularly
♦ Exhibits the nine cardinal virtues of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
♦ Embodies enthusiasm and possesses the true Delta spirit that Delta Sigma Theta is a lifetime commitment.
♦ Chapter member for the current sorority year.
The Soror of the Year is nominated for this award and voted upon by financial sorors by secret ballot. Nominations are submitted in May, voted upon in June. The announcement of Soror of the Year is made and the plaque presented at the September chapter meeting.
